What changes for you

No more repainting
Painted pools need redoing every few years. A fibreglass membrane is bonded on, so there's nothing to peel or flake.
Smooth on hands and feet
No rough render or pebble to graze knees and toes. The finish is smooth to the touch.

Black spot can't take hold
Black spot grows into porous concrete finishes. A non-porous fibreglass surface gives it nothing to grow into.
Easier to keep clean
Algae has less to cling to, and the surface suits a wide range of water treatments.

Copes with minor movement
Hairline cracks are repaired first, and the fibreglass layer has some flex to handle small movement in the concrete.
Change the shape
Add steps or a ledge while we're there. Ask us at your inspection.
Our system
How we resurface a concrete pool
We drain and protect the pool, then grind and wash the existing surface to give the fibreglass a sound bonding profile. Cracks and voids are filled with a two-part epoxy concrete repair product before any fibreglass goes on.
The pool is then laminated in fibreglass matting with vinylester resin, followed by a vinylester base coat and a UV-stabilised gelcoat finish in your chosen colour.
We don't do patch repairs on concrete pools. Any repair is done as part of a full resurface, so you end up with one seamless surface.
Coping and waterline tile work is outside our scope. Your condition report will note it if it needs attention.
Questions
Common questions
Can you resurface a pebblecrete or marblesheen pool?
Yes. Our fibreglass system suits painted, pebblecrete, marblesheen and quartz concrete pools. We prepare the existing surface and bond the new fibreglass membrane to it.
Can you just patch one part of my concrete pool?
No. We don't do patch repairs on concrete pools. Cracks and damaged areas are repaired as part of a full fibreglass resurface, which gives you one seamless surface.
Will the fibreglass crack if my concrete has hairline cracks?
Hairline cracks are repaired during preparation, and the fibreglass layer has some flexibility to cope with minor movement. Structural movement of the shell is not covered by any surface warranty, so we assess it at inspection.
How long does it take?
Most residential pools take about a week on site, weather permitting.
